What is Dystonia?
Dystonia is a movement disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions that can cause repetitive movements and/or abnormal postures. It can affect either a single body part or the whole body.
Involuntary twisting
Tremor
Muscle cramps or pain
Abnormal posture
Aggravated symptoms with stress or fatigue
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Injections to reduce muscle overactivity
Oral Medications (anticholinergics, muscle relaxants)
Physical Therapy
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for generalized dystonia or severe cases
