For international patients

Why Istanbul?

Where East meets West, healing finds a home.

More than a destination

Istanbul is more than a destination. It is a gateway to world-class medical care rooted in centuries of hospitality and healing. Patients from around the globe choose Istanbul for one powerful reason: excellence is accessible here.

The city is home to state-of-the-art hospitals, internationally trained specialists in movement disorders, and JCI-accredited facilities equipped with the latest surgical and diagnostic technologies.

Functional neurosurgery, in volume

Volume is not a virtue on its own, but it is not nothing either. A surgeon who performs functional neurosurgery weekly is a different surgeon from one who performs it occasionally, and Istanbul’s centres carry the case load that keeps a team sharp — in stereotactic targeting, in intra-operative testing, and in the device programming that follows.

Many of the specialists working here trained in Europe and North America and returned. The technology is the same equipment used in those countries; the difference is in cost and in waiting time, not in the machine.

Premium care, accessible cost

What sets Istanbul apart is affordable, high-quality service. Patients benefit from substantial cost savings on medical treatment compared with the U.S., U.K. and most of Europe, without compromising quality. Istanbul is where premium care meets sensible value.

We publish itemised costs in writing before you travel, and we do not use countdown offers or limited-time pricing. If a quote changes after you arrive, something has gone wrong — with any provider, not only this one.

Getting here is the easy part

Accessing care in Istanbul is seamless for international patients — and where it is not, that is what your coordinator is for. See the step-by-step guide for how the whole process runs.

  • Istanbul Airport is among the busiest air hubs in the world, with direct flights from most major cities
  • Visa-friendly entry — for most nationalities a tourist e-Visa covers treatment and recovery under 90 days
  • Multilingual medical professionals and dedicated interpreters
  • Accommodation within reach of the hospital, arranged for patient and companion

A city to recover in

Recovery after DBS is measured in weeks, not days, and those weeks are spent somewhere. Istanbul is a reasonable place to spend them: the Bosphorus shore for a slow walk, a city with several thousand years of history to fill the days between appointments, and a culture that treats guests as guests.

The first public hospital on this peninsula was funded to treat travellers who arrived with nothing. Something of that instinct is still here.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a medical visa to come to Türkiye for treatment?

For most international patients, no. A standard tourist e-Visa — or visa-free entry, depending on your nationality — covers treatment and recovery lasting under 90 days. Keep your HealBridge invitation letter accessible at immigration.

Is the standard of care really comparable?

Our partner facilities are JCI-accredited, meaning they are audited against the same international standard applied to hospitals in the U.S. and Europe. Ask any provider — here or elsewhere — which accreditation they hold and when it was last renewed.

How far is the hospital from the airport?

Transfers are arranged as part of your coordination and timed around your arrival, so this is not something you need to plan. Your coordinator will confirm the details with your schedule before you fly.
